Standing at 5’11”, weighing about 180, he has the typical frame of a Quidditch player. He is long legged, and has long muscles. He has brown eyes, and brown hair that he continually grows to different lengths, specifically to irritate his mother. He has longer fingers, making him excellent at guitar. He has a boy next door good looks- he is nice looking, but doesn’t stand out in any particular way. His appearance tends to evoke confidence in others, as he is unassuming. Parents: father is Sherman Longbottom and mother is Augusta Longbottom. Siblings: no siblings History: Sherman Longbottom is Frank’s father. Sherman is the brother of Harfang Longbottom. One brother married Callidora Black, while the other married Augusta. It was not a marriage of love at first. As with many pure-blood marriages, it was an arranged marriage but an amicable one. Sherman had enough quiet determination to rein Augusta’s controlling nature. At the birth of their son, things shifted slightly, as the family was very proud of the new heir to the Longbottom lineage. Augusta, being a controlling woman, never tired at trying to make suggestion, strong directions and basically run her young son’s life. These attempts were thwarted repeatedly by his father, Sherman who had tremendous pride in his only son and wouldn’t let her ‘hen pick’ him to death. The result was a household of much debate, almost arguments, as Frank witnessed his parents constant battling. Frank grew up near the mill towns of Lancashire, in the Pendle area, surrounded by moorland and not terribly far from Blackpool, a seaside resort. The land was grim, and the population was grim. To escape his parents, Frank spent many hours, hiking and wandering the moorlands, reading of places exotic and far away, and learned to play guitar to bring some life to his grey, dreary home. He learned to love the rough sea, and fished but was not a very good boats men, as the journey to the coast was a greater distance than allowed for daily sailing. Getting his letter felt like his ticket to freedom. The oppression of the dreariness of the town, his parents unresolved conflicts and the opportunity ahead of him gave him confidence that he could pursue the dreams he set before himself. He was sorted into Gryffindor house, like his father before him (his mother had been in Ravenclaw, although some thought she was better suited for Slytherin.) Faced with the evil permeating the school, Frank moved from being a complacent follower to more of a leadership role. His dislike of seeing someone victimized produced assurances in his abilities not earlier demonstrated in school to date. His ability to commit sharpened and focused at putting a stop to Death Eaters. He was always friends with Alice Whitby, but fell madly, deeply in love with her and married her; they elloped when an arranged marriage was made for her with another Pure-blood boy, Regulus Black. Upon their marriage, her family disowned her which broke Frank's heart for his tender new bride. But his family was supportive, and built a cottage for them on the Longbottom Estate. They decided that together they would become aurors, and began training for it as soon as they finished school at Hogwarts. Alice bore him three amazing, beautiful, perfect children, and they both work side by side, for the Department of Ministry and at home. His parents had gifted them a house-elf at the birth of Neville, and the creature was a great help in running a busy household. Thus, they live, happily, near his family, and are raising his children much the way he was raised, running and exploring the outdoors, but with a more public display of love and affection then he ever experienced. Frank's interest in music continued, and his guitar skills have become better. He occasionally has success at selling a song, but he prefers to play for his own satisfaction, and of course, for the delight of his family. Personality: Frank has an inner strength that is masked by his easy going exterior. He has been raised by an over-powering mother, so he is used to deferring to her will, but he has no compunction is standing up to her when he is firm in his beliefs (much to her dismay!). He has a pull towards family responsibilities (real or imagined), and the pressure of following the rules and not stepping out of line has been a constant one. He has good leadership skills but doesn’t try to control a situation by taking over. He lets others step forward at this point in his life, and he is a willing supporter. He can redirect and diffuse most situations without violence, which has been his preference. He is an excellent teacher, and thought of going into teaching, when he retires someday. Strengths: Frank has leadership qualities. He is organized, unassuming, and thorough when put to a task. He is stoic. He is an attentive husband and father. Weaknesses: Frank can be irresponsible, especially in his youth. He can be non-committal. He can get resentful when not the leader in a situation, and withdrawn. He has a tendency to argue a point well past the mark. Likes: He likes to be physical. He loves Quidditch. He enjoys a good joke. He was partial to his DADA classes. He played as a beater for the Gryffindor team. Dislikes: He detests bossy women. He cannot stand to see someone victimized. He is fond of chocolate. He hates cats. Friends: Alice Whitby, Gideon Prewett, Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew..and friendly with most every one else, outside of the Slytherin students. Enemies: Any Slytherin Extracurricular Activities: Quidditch, reading, fishing, guitar, hiking, hunting, making things for his children 3rd person: Frank closed his old journal, and slipped it back into his school trunk, amongst the Gryffindor pictures, old Quidditch uniforms and a blanket that was stored there. He was in the attic; he had been looking for an old photography of James Potter that he was sure was stored in the box. He could hear the music downstairs, and the loud laughter of his son, followed by the high pitch squeal and giggle of his little girl. The dog barked noisily, as he heard their feet running, first up the stairs and then down. He waited for Alice's call to get off the stairs and clean up for dinner. He loved this time of day; they were both home, and ready to sit together for a family meal. The only damper was Neville's abscence; he was away at school. As he stood and brushed the dust of the space off his trousers, he wondered how life could be any better. The only damper to their perfect life was the lack of her family. He thought back that holiday party, when her parents had proudly announced an arrangement between her family and the Blacks; his parents were much humilated by the Whitby's flat refusal to entertain an offer from them for Frank, even though Frank was positive that it had been triple of the Black's offer. Frank had impressed upon his parents his love for her, and they tried in vain to secure her for him. So, the two students had taken matters into their own hands, and upon completion of their NEWTs, Frank and Alice had decided to elope. It was their only alternative; she was scheduled to marry Regulus Black in the summer, after graduation. His parents had not been terribly pleased, more for the public spectacle of it, but his father was proud of Frank for taking matters into his own hands; they had discussed it at length over the years. His parents had taken them in, by building a modest cottage for them at a far corner of the estates; it was a good 15-20 minute ride by carriage to reach their charming home from the Longbottom's Manor. It was also located by the forest, on the opposite side of the lake, and felt like it was miles and miles from his parents which suited both of them nicely. Close enough to see his parents on occasion, but far enough to not be bothered by them. He stepped onto the landing, closing the door behind him and warding it, to keep the smaller children from wandering in there and finding a possible boggart who might be lurking about. He sighed contentedly, and moved down the stairs to join his family.
